Access Number:

Getting Connected:

Windows 95/98
For Windows 95 and 98, simply make a new dialup connection (under My Computer, Dialup Networking, Make New Connection) and type in the access number you wish to use.  When you have finished, right-click on the connection you made and select properties.   Under "Server Types" uncheck the "Log on to Network" button, leaving everything else as the default.  Select OK and you are done.  Double click on the new connection icon to connect to wvhome.net.  When asked for a username and password use the ones assigned to you.

Windows NT
For NT4, make a new dialup connection (under My Computer, Dialup Networking, Select "New")  and enter a name and the meer.net access number you wish to call.   Under the "Server" tab, uncheck IPX and NetBEUI if they are checked.   Select "Advanced" and make sure "Server assigned IP" and "Server assigned name server" are selected.  Click OK.  Under the "Security" tab, select "Accept any authentication including clear text".  This is not the default option.  Click OK and the connection should be ready to use.  Select "Dial" to connect to meer.net.

Macintosh
All recent Macintoshes running MacOS 8.1 and later use OpenTransport and the PPP control panel.  This is the preferred software for accessing meer.net.  Older Macintoshes use MacTCP and either MacPPP or FreePPP control panels.
